Dodie Post was captain of the 1948 Olympic Team and the 1950 F.IS. Team.

Dodie Post Gann was born on September 10, 1922 and raised in Reno, Nevada in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Competition began for Dodie as a Reno Ski Club junior in 1938.

She trained in Sun Valley the winters of 1941, 1942 and 1947. Dodie won the Silver Belt (1st, 2nd and 3rd in successive years) at Sugar Bowl and the Silver Dollar Derby at Mt. Rose.

During the winter of 1944 (during the war), Dodie made “RKO News Sports Shorts” with Otto Lang in Alta.

In 1947, she gained a selection to the 1948 Olympic team and was elected team captain. In 1950, Dodie was named to the F.I.S. World Championships team, again elected team captain. Dodie was selected manager of the Ladies Olympic Training Camp at Sun Valley in 1955 and 1956 and received an appointment to the U.S. Olympic Team selection committee. She was then named team manager of the 1956 U.S. Women’s Olympic Team that competed in Cortina, Italy. Dodie Post was the first woman selected to the “University of Nevada’s Athletic Hall of Fame” in 1973.

Dodie Post Gann was elected to the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame in 2001.
